Traditionally used by the ancient cultures of Mesoamerica such as the Mayans, Olmecs and Aztecs: this plant was deemed 'food by the Gods' and used to strengthen the body, heart and mind. Directions for use: Cacao taken in this way can be used to replace your morning coffee as it is also a stimulant but not as hard hitting on the nervous system as caffeine.

To prepare

-Start with the cacao and chop with a knife into smaller pieces so it softens easily in hot water.
-Heat water slightly, without bringing it to a boiling point.
-Add the cacao shavings.
-Add sweetener of choice, coconut oil, milk and/or spices to taste.
-Use a whisk or blender to stir the brew until it's all the chunks are blended, and you get a frothy top.
-It’s helpful to have a spoon or stirring stick to keep the consistency even as you consume. The cacao will settle at the bottom over time.
